From the foaling barn to the breeding shed, the sales grounds to the backstretch, they have an extensive knowledge of what goes into making of an equine athlete. Utilizing our well rounded horsemanship skills, we formed Catalyst Bloodstock, a full service agency offering horses at public auction, private purchases, mating recommendations, and appraisals.
Originally from New Jersey, Chris Knehr pursued his undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech where he first discovered his passion for horses. While attending school, he worked on a Warmblood breeding farm learning about the day to day care of horses, prepping young stock for inspections and ground training prospects for the hunter/jumper show ring. After receiving his Business degree, he completed an internship at Overbrook Farm during the breeding season learning the ins and outs of equine production from the breeding shed to the foaling barn. Following his internship he returned to Blacksburg, VA to work on his Master's degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in equine genetics. In 2004 Chris returned to Overbrook Farm where he worked one year as the nightwatch supervisor, before being promoted to Assistant Stallion Manager. Chris switched over to working the sales for various consignors assisting in pedigree research, client relations, marketing, mating analysis, and sales prep. He is a member of the KTFMC and KEEP and currently lives on a small farm in Midway, KY with his wife Erin and daughter Rylee. In his spare time Chris enjoys rock climbing, horseback riding, running, and outdoor activities with his family
