Established in 1948, Winter Quarter Farm has been nurtured by four generations of horsemen. The rolling 389 acres of rich Maury Loam soil is located just outside of Lexington, Kentucky in southwest Fayette County and is currently under the watchful eyes of Don Robinson and son Ferran. At Winter Quarter the emphasis is on raising quality Thoroughbreds, the preparation and representation of horses for auction, and breaking yearlings.
Primarily we sell what is raised on the farm and we raise an honest horse. We know the horses and the buyers place high value on the farm from where the horse comes. It is the ultimate satisfaction and accomplishment to raise horses like ZENYATTA, BALANCE, OVERARCHING and GOLDEN PHEASANT and see them run so well. For us to have had a number of horses of that caliber, nurtured by this ground and our care is the ultimate validation.
