Dr. Rolf Embertson attended Michigan State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1976, followed by a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. He completed an internship at the Illinois Equine Hospital in 1980, and completed a large animal surgery residency at the University of Florida in 1982, He completed a third-year equine surgery residency at The Ohio State University in 1983, worked as an equine surgeon in New Hampshire for one year, then returned to The Ohio State University as an assistant professor in 1984. In 1986, he moved to Lexington to help start Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital and passed the board exam to become a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Embertson is a surgeon and shareholder at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital.
