Rhonda Norby is the Director of Marketing & Communications for Equibase Company. Norby’s responsibilities include writing and overseeing public communications that carry the Equibase brand, marketing and branding products and services directly to customers, and supporting the Equibase brand’s status as the Thoroughbred industry’s official database.
During her time in this role, Norby has been instrumental in the creation of a variety of products and services designed to help fans follow horse racing, such as Virtual Stable and the Yearbook and Today’s Racing apps. Additionally, she has facilitated an increase in free statistical information on Equibase’s website.
Free information now available on equibase.com includes individual statistics pages for horses, jockeys, trainers, owners, graded stakes races, and tracks; results charts dating back to 1991; and lifetime start information for jockeys, trainers, and owners.
Norby also oversees the implementation of online tools that enable users to view Equibase’s free data in a variety of ways. For example, Equibase released a comparison tool last year to enable individuals to compare statistics of horses, trainers, jockeys, and owners, and this year, it expanded individual profile pages through the addition of statistical graphs.
Prior to joining Equibase Company, Norby worked for five years in the marketing department at Remington Park, culminating in her being named the director of marketing at the racetrack. She began her career as a turf writer, having covered the sport at BloodHorse and the Racing Times. Norby was elected president of the Turf Publicists of America in December 2016.
Norby graduated from Midway University’s Equine Studies program. She has three children.
