Shannon Luce

Biography: 

Shannon serves as director of communications for The Jockey Club. In that role, she is responsible for managing and directing the organization's internal and external communications. In addition, she designs and creates brochures, print and online advertisements, website content, videos, podcasts, and other multi-media materials for The Jockey Club, its family of companies, and numerous industry initiatives.

Shannon has been a horse lover since she was a child and began working in the Thoroughbred industry during college. She started grooming yearlings and then showed horses at the sales, broke yearlings, galloped young horses, and worked as an assistant bloodstock agent. After college she spent many years working as a writer, editor, and graphic designer. She returned to the Thoroughbred industry as a writer for The Jockey Club in March 2005. She became director of communications in December 2017.

Shannon has a Bachelor of Science in animal science / pre-vet with an equine emphasis from the University of Kentucky and a degree in technical writing and editing from North Carolina State University.

She lives in Harrodsburg, Ky., with her husband, Pete Swisher.
