Fonner Park, located just off Interstate 80 in Grand Island, in the center of Nebraska, is Central Nebraska's entertainment destination. A year-round facility, Fonner Park is host to a number of events, shows, the Hall County Fair and much more.
The heart of Fonner Park is the live thoroughbred race meet which runs from mid-February through mid-May. During the live meet, many events such as craft shows, family activities, recreational shows, and giveaways along with special races highlight the season. The "jewel" of the Fonner Park live thoroughbred meet is the $75,000 Bosselman/Gus Fonner Stakes held Saturday, April 27, 2013. Horses from across the country will descend upon Grand Island for Nebraska's richest horse race. Fonner Park offers group discounts for groups of 20 or more and special rates for bus and touring groups. Post times are in the afternoons - Friday through Sunday. General admission is freewith additional seating available in the Clubhouse, Skyline, and Turf Club for a slight additional charge. Plenty of FREE hard-surfaced parking is available for patrons.
Fonner Park's Simulcast program is year-round and features the nation's best racing from Kentucky, New York, California, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Minnesota, Iowa, and many more. Simulcasting is conducted 7 days a week and begins at 12 noon daily.
